The Mark of Excellence Awards categories are designed to recognize and celebrate business success across various industries, sizes, and stages of business. With a diverse range of categories, there is something for every business, from entrepreneurship and innovation to community involvement. We encourage you to explore the categories and apply for those that align with your business’s strengths. There is no limit to the number of categories you can use, so showcase your excellence across multiple areas!
General Eligibility
- Must have operated in Saskatchewan for a minimum of one year at at time of application.
- It must be financially viable.
- Must qualify as a for-profit business. (Nonprofit organizations may apply for the Nonprofit Impact Award.)
- Must not apply for a category the business has won within the last three years (other categories remain eligible).
- Must not have won the Business of the Year Award within the past three years.

Recognizes businesses demonstrating exceptional commitment to arts and culture, sports, education, healthcare, or voluntary groups. A more significant consideration is given to contributions beyond core business activities.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
It celebrates businesses that have achieved outstanding progress in fostering equitable and sustainable change, focusing on underrepresented groups, and advancing community relationship-building.
Growth and Expansion
Acknowledges businesses that have achieved significant growth or expansion through increased revenue, market reach, job creation, or substantial investments.
Innovation
Honours businesses that redefine industries through innovative technologies, systems, services, or products, creating a lasting impact on their sector and society.
New Venture
Presented to businesses operating for 1–3 years, demonstrating exceptional performance, market impact, and innovative contributions.
Service Excellence
Celebrates businesses that consistently exceed customer expectations, fostering strong relationships and advancing service standards in their industry.
Young Entrepreneur
Recognizes entrepreneurs aged 18–35 who have successfully launched and managed a business, emphasizing innovation and leadership.
Non-Profit Impact
Acknowledges nonprofit organizations that contribute to building a vibrant business ecosystem through innovative initiatives.
Business of the Year
The pinnacle award celebrates businesses that have demonstrated exceptional performance, resilience, growth, and stability in all areas of business excellence.
Youth Involvement

Community Merit
Acknowledges a nonprofit organization that has made a positive and creative effort to enhance the community.
Entrepreneur of the Year
Celebrates an individual who owns a business in Humboldt and District, showcasing the entrepreneurial spirit, innovation, and success in starting and operating a business.
Marketing
Highlights a business demonstrating exceptional performance in executing a successful marketing strategy.
Business Hall of Fame Inductee
A business person from Humboldt and District who has made a significant impact on the landscape of the business
community. This award honours and recognizes the importance of strong leaders in business success. A business owner that
demonstrates leadership in the form of mentorship or education of other businesses and/or staff. Individuals who have demonstrated leadership, business acumen and success, an entrepreneurial spirit, integrity, and a commitment to the people they work with. Nominations are open year-round for this category.
